The Importance of Seeking Help From a Mental Health Professional

Seeking help from a Mental Health Professional is important because they will give you sound advice and an ear.

Don’t get me wrong speaking with family and friends can be beneficial when you need a support system, but I found professional help makes it easier to be open about emotions and addressing things that have taken place.

Some people will attempt to hide and ignore symptoms that point to mental health problems because he or she may be ashamed or don’t know how to handle it. According to Better Health Television, talking to your doctor or mental healthcare professional about mental health issues or emotional difficulties is a positive step towards improving your mental health. A professional can help you get on track to a healthier lifestyle by assisting you with improving your problem solving skills, build and increase confidence, heal from the past, and set and achieve goals.

I recently spoke with a young female in her late 20s and asked her three questions about speaking with a mental health provider and she was glad to share part of her journey.

What’s In My Travel Bag

When traveling I tend to put so much junk into my bag because I always think when I don’t pack something I am going to need it. Therefore, when I travel I have to strategically think of things I will need and things I can do without. When traveling by flight you become limited on what can go into a carry-on or personal item; shout out to TSA for keeping me in check with over stuffing. LOL! 13 Quick Tips On Reducing Stress

  1. Eat Breakfast: Eating breakfast can give you the extra strength you need.

  2. Work out: Being physical active plays a key role in reducing and preventing the effects of stress. At least 30 minutes of exercise, three times per week, will release a great amount of stress and tension one may have.
  3. Prepare for the morning the night before: Your morning can go a lot smoother and quicker.
  4. Learn how to say No: It is OK to tell someone no and take time for you.
  5.  Say something nice to someone: Receiving a smile or compliment from someone else can put someone in a better mood.
  6. Believe in yourself: If you don’t believe in yourself, who will?
  7. Stop saying negative things to yourself: You are only the person you settle to be.
  8. Dance when no one is looking: It is a good mini workout but it also helps to release tension and stress.
  9. Do something you love: When you treat yourself to something you enjoy, you will be feeding your happiness.
  10. Keep a journal:  When you can’t speak your words, write them down.
  11. Get enough sleep: The brain cannot function correctly without sleep.
  12. Keep a “To Do” list: Writing down your tasks will allow you to strive to complete the list
