For anyone who wants to enjoy a quiet moment and get away from their day to day hustle and bustle, Historic Yates Mill County Park is the place. The park is very calming with a lot of history located in Raleigh, North Carolina.
My first adventure to Costa Rica was with Under 30 Experiences ( U30X) which was unforgettable and a feeling that is almost indescribably. Because I decided to travel with U30X all the planning was done for me, I meet new people, and I was able to awaken emotions/feelings that I have been sleeping on.
The travel company basically took all of the stress and tasks away from planning my own trip. Everyday was filled with exciting places to eat, gorgeous views, and outdoor adrenaline packed activities. Some of those activities included zip lining through the rain forest with Sky Adventure, relaxing in the hot springs, hiking up mountains, visiting secret beaches, repelling down water falls with Quepos Canyoning, kayaking, water rafting, yoga, and exploring city areas. Before we go over the itinerary that Sam and I used, I’d like to give five general tips about traveling to Mexico City too.
The weather is mostly mild and sunny year round, but the altitude (over 7000 ft above sea level) means it’s windy and sudden storms can take you by surprise— bring easy layers and comfortable tennis shoes.
Don’t try to dress down here. By all means wear whatever you please, but know that Mexico City is very well dressed, basically everywhere. The only place I didn’t see blazers was hiking Teotihuacan’s pyramids.
Many restaurants are wonderful here, but the magic is in the carts. Almost every street cart and bodega is making delicious, fresh meats and tortas. You’ll see tents full of suited lunch break bankers sitting on plastic stools huddled over a plate of steaming al pastor tacos. Trust these tents, and walk up to them as often if not more than you would Yelp a place first.
We walked nearly everywhere, but this is a massive city. Continue reading “Must See Mexico City: 10 Days in a Culture Capital by Danna Sweidan”
Look for souvenirs outside the gift shop
When traveling try to avoid gift shops when purchasing souvenirs. There will be unique and original finding when visiting street vendors and random stores you come across while traveling. Looking for original art became a thing for me when I took my first international trip to Europe. While visiting Europe Continue reading “4 Things You Must Do When Traveling”
For someone who loves to travel, I have never flown on an airplane. I have traveled by car, charter bus, and grey hound to various locations. So far I had the opportunity to visit Jamestown, Richmond, and Petersburg, Virginia, Wilmington, Tabor City, and Pembroke, North Carolina, Orlando and Jacksonville, Florida, Lacombe and New Orleans, Louisiana, Atlanta, Augusta, and Savannah, Georgia, and Columbia, Charleston, Hilton Head, Florence, Hartsville, Darlington, Rock Hill, Greenville, Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Conway, Georgetown, Augusta, Sumter, and of course Loris, my hometown, South Carolina.
I feel like there are so many things in the world for one to see, learn from, and take a chance with. I am young and want to see what the world has to offer. Sometimes I am afraid to take chances at things however;my fear does not last long because I end up going forward and striving for whatever I want.
This past weekend I faced my fears and flew on an air plane. I arrived to the airport 2 hrs. and 45 minutes before my flight which, I found to be very early. However, time went by quickly because I explored every sales and magazine section of the airport. Technically, I was not scared at all. I was curious and excited when the airplane began to back up and take off into the sky. On my very first flight from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to Atlanta, Georgia I was very dizzy and light headed. However, on my second flight I was feeling a lot better. When I arrived in Atlanta, I was amazed at the size of the airport and the different options available. It was almost like an inside mall. There were various restaurants, book/magazine stores, clothing stores, rest areas, express spa, and more; I was in amazement. Since I didn’t have time to get a pedicure before heading to New York, I went down to the express spa to receive a pedicure and 15 minute back massage; I loved it.
Anyway, getting back on track, I enjoyed my trip to New York (NY); I almost didn’t want it to end. There are so many things to do and explore while in the state of New York. On my visit I adventured different locations such as, Time Square, Harlem, The Village, China Town, and more. Right now I am so tired and drained from all the walking and heat I have encountered. Being that I am from the south, I should be used to the heat however; down in the subway is a different type of hotness. It can become very muggy and hot. The only thing I like about the heat there is that there is no humidity.
I do enjoy living down south on the coast however; I find New York to be very interesting.
